Hydration deficiency

Water is the basis of life: why it is so important to properly hydrate the body

The body of an adult is 70-80% water. It is present in all organs, tissues, cells and even bones. Blood and lymph are 95% water, playing an essential role in transporting nutrients and eliminating toxins.

Can we underestimate the importance of water for the vital functions of the body? Unfortunately, many people replace water with tea, juices or other drinks, mistakenly thinking that they can satisfy their water needs. But this is not the case!

How much water should you drink?

The daily amount of water to drink is calculated based on body weight: 30 ml for every kg of weight.

  • A 50 kg person needs 1.5 liters of water per day.
  • An 80 kg person should drink at least 2.4 liters.
  • In case of physical activity, high temperatures or profuse sweating, the quantity of water should be increased.

What happens if we don’t drink enough water?

Dehydration can cause:

  • Thicker blood and accumulation of toxins.
  • Bowel problems and constipation.
  • Headache and feeling of tiredness.
  • Slow metabolism and weight gain.

Often, people don’t realize they’re dehydrated. For example, someone who rarely goes to the bathroom may think they’re drinking enough, or someone who suffers from bloating tends to reduce water intake for fear of overloading the kidneys. However, in reality, the lack of water causes the body to retain fluids in the tissues, causing bloating.

Not all water is equally beneficial!

It is not only the quantity but also the quality of water that matters. In order for it to be absorbed at its best, water must be biologically available, that is, have properties similar to bodily fluids.

The healthiest water should have:

  • Slightly alkaline pH (7.45–7.55).
  • ORP negative oxidation-reduction potential.

These characteristics are typical of natural spring waters, such as those found in mountains or in healing spas. However, it is difficult to obtain such water at home, since it quickly oxidizes when in contact with air.

Is filtered water really safe?

Many believe that filtered water is the best choice. However, filters remove not only harmful impurities, but also essential minerals, making it “dead” water. Regular consumption of this water can be harmful to your health.

How to get biologically available water?

The good news is that there is a way to turn ordinary water into water that is beneficial for your body!
